For her episode of Listen Out Loud, see Lori Loud (Listen Out Loud).

I just got obsessed with this idea of the stuff I had to do before high school was over. But I realize now that those things aren't what matter, it's you guys. And doing stuff like this.

—"Senior Moment"

Lori L. Loud[3] is a main character in The Loud House and a supporting character in The Casagrandes and The Really Loud House.

Biography[]

At 18-years-old (17-years-old before Season 5), Lori is the oldest child of the Loud family. This is a fact she used to assert authority and absolute dominance over her siblings. Lori is an alumna of Royal Woods High School, which she attended with her sisters Leni, Luna, and Luan. Lori is currently in college at Fairway University as of "Schooled!"

In "Time Trap!", Lori and her siblings altered history, causing their parents to decide not to have any kids in the future. As a result, Lori got deleted out of existence, although she returned when Lisa and Lily prevented this timeline alteration.

Early life[]

When Lori was a very young baby, she had a pointed head and webbed toes, and she enjoyed playing with the landline phone.[4] At the age of one, she had developed a more rounded head and lost her toe webbing, and her habit of passing gas and blaming it on others began.[5] During her infancy, she had an animatronic toy fox named Fenton, who she liked, but her parents hated, so they put him in the attic around the time of Leni's birth.[6] Lori would also become a big sister and the eldest Loud child when Leni was born.

Lynn Sr. taught Lori how to use a spoon when she was two. At around age three or four, Lori was entertained by a baby Luan's sock puppet show.[7]

Lori made a hand turkey as a kindergartener.[8] When Lori was a young girl, she and Leni were in the Bluebell Scouts together[9] and sold cookies.[10] At age six, she owned two dolls, and at around age six or seven, she liked to give Lincoln makeovers (along with Leni), fed him his very first ice cream and cheer him up when he was sad (along with the rest of their sisters).[7] She had a hard time learning multiplication[11] and Lynn Sr. would often help her choose her clothes.[12] Lori owned a kite when she was eleven-years-old.[13]

She used to attend Royal Woods Middle School, but never ate at the cafeteria due to the humiliation from having accidentally spilled soup on Chef Pat because she was distracted by her new flip phone.[14] At some point in her preteen or early teenage years, she had acne and wore glasses and braces, which she describes as her "awkward stage."[15][16] Lori began babysitting when she was thirteen years old.[17]

Personality[]

The Loud House Lori Nickelodeon 3

Lori talking on her phone.

Lori is bossy and she has a bad temper. As such, Lori tends to come off as somewhat rude and condescending towards those not familiar with her; but, aside from that, she's friendly and kind. By Season 3, Lori's bad temper seems to have gone down but occasionally, she still gets moody.

She doesn't like the others touching her possessions, especially her cellphone, which is her most valuable object. The reason for this is that she does not want to waste her phone memory for messages other than the ones from Bobby. She's also very territorial as she loudly yells at anyone who goes into her room without permission before kicking them out. She's also shown to be protective, as she locks her room with a key and electronic keypad lock.

In some occasions she acts without thinking and commits malicious actions against the others for her own selfish benefits, such as trying to stop Leni from learning to drive so that she can remain the only Loud kid with a license,[18] but since her love for her family always comes before any petty problem, she has a caring heart underneath a rough exterior and she'll always try to fix her mistakes. Deep down, Lori is insecure; it is shown that while she gets annoyed and easily agitated by a lot of people, she feels lonely without the people she loves and cares about (such as Bobby and her family) and her worst fear is in fact, losing their approval. Some examples include being lonely when sleeping in the garage away from her siblings[19] and bursting out crying after being dumped by Bobby.[20]

Lori being dramatic

Lori, much like her father and paternal grandfather, is very emotional and cries easily. She'll often cry if she is lonely[21] or has simply had a bad day.[22] She also appears to have inherited Lynn Sr.'s clumsiness along with Leni and Lincoln.

Despite being insecure, Lori is very reliable and a good leader. Before she left for college, she was the only one who could competently take charge without chaos ensuing.[23] Even when Leni is left in charge, she will call Lori if she requires assistance.[24]

Lori also has an interest in golf and is a very skilled player, though nervousness can impede her ability to play golf.[25] Part of the reason she attended Fairway University was because of their emphasis on golf. Despite this, she is not very interested in other sports.[26]

Like Leni, Lori has an interest in fashion, though unlike Leni, she doesn't make clothes. Leni often turns to Lori for fashion advice;[27] and, when Lori and Leni roomed together, they would often borrow one another's clothes without permission, causing many squabbles between the two.[28]

Lori is a romantic; she plans very elaborate dates with Bobby and talks very affectionately towards him. She also enjoys giving her siblings love advice and watching romance shows such as The Dream Boat. If she suspects that one of her siblings has a crush, she will get very excited.[29][30]

She seems to also have an interest in nutrition. Her siblings complain about her going on "health kicks", which seem to be mainly focused on food;[31][32] and, she enthuses about her bean chips being low-calorie and high-fiber.[33]

Nick description[]

Lori Loud is 'literally' the oldest of the Loud children. She's the self-proclaimed boss and the only sister with a driver's license...so it pays to stay on her good side. A professional texter and avid eye-roller, Lori is never afraid to tell people how she feels.

—Nickelodeon, 2016

The first-born child in the Loud clan, Lori’s basically the boss of all her siblings. She’s the oldest and most experienced of the kids, which makes her a great ally, so it pays to be on her good side. Signature traits: eyerolls, constantly texting boyfriend Bobby, literally saying ‘literally,’ like, all the time.

—Nickelodeon, 2021

Appearance[]

Lori is the tallest among all her siblings. She has large blonde hair (a genetic trait she shares with her mother, even though Lori's hair is slightly longer). Her original design depicted her with pink eyeshadow, a white tank top, navy blue shorts, and black shoes. Later it was changed to a light blue tank top (later revealed to be the top of her mother's old girdle[34]), brown cargo shorts, light blue slip-on shoes and light blue eyeshadow. She also wears white pearl earrings.

Her nightwear consists of a sky blue nightshirt and blue slippers; but, later, her current one contains a white tank top, and small blue and white shorts, with a checkered pattern.[35][36] Her swimsuit is a two-piece light blue bikini.

She used to wear braces and a blue ribbon and previously had acne when she was younger.[37] She also used to wear glasses.[15]

In A Loud House Christmas, her shorts are white and her shoes are white with blue polka dots.

In The Really Loud House, she wears a white top, light blue jacket, and light blue skirt; and she also has longer hair.

Phone[]

Lori's Phone

Her phone is a handheld object owned by her. She often talks to her boyfriend Bobby with it, but she also talks to other people from time to time, and uses her phone to send and receive text messages as well. A common animation goof with her phone is that it occasionally changes colors.

Alternate versions and alter-egos[]

Loki Loud[]

Loki Loud vector

In the alternate universe in which Lincoln has ten brothers instead of ten sisters, Lori is a boy named Loki Loud. Unlike Lori, Loki is even more selfish, greedy and very bossy around the others. He's also mean and abrasive towards Lincoln and mocks him for Luke (Luna) using him to clean the toilet, Leon (Lily) for biting his thumb when he gets a "boo-boo," and teases him about Ronnie Anne. Loki is also more of a slob than Lori, bragging about his farts and not caring that the bathroom is messy.

However, in the dimension in which the sexes of the Loud kids are the exact opposite (meaning that it's one girl and ten boys), Loki's shown to be very caring and protective of his sister, Linka - in fact, Loki's the first of the brothers to ask Linka (technically Lincoln in Linka's body) if she's okay after he and the rest of the brothers heard her screaming in the middle of the night.

Loki eventually turns out to be a product of Lincoln's imagination as the whole adventure was revealed to be a dream, from which Lincoln wakes up at the end of the episode.

The High Card[]

Lori as The High Card

Lori as The High Card.

In the minicomic Deuces Wild! and its animated adaptation, Lori takes on the superheroine identity The High Card. She is one of Ace Savvy's sidekicks. Her powers are not shown, as she's only seen driving a van. In the comic, she's summoned by Savvy alongside the rest of Savvy's deck to help him and One-Eyed Jack defeat the gas monster. After they defeat it, they prepare to fight against a garbage monster. (In reality, Lori and her siblings were only helping to change Lily and take out the trash).

In "Pulp Friction", she's only seen driving the van, and her abilities are not shown. This is also the episode in which Lincoln comes up with the High Card, making a comic featuring superheroes based on his sisters to enter in a contest.

In "Kings of the Con," it is revealed that Lincoln's comic featuring the superheroes based on his sisters has become famous, so when Lori came to the convention dressed as the High Card (along with her siblings in costume), everyone was impressed.

The High Card wears blue goggles, a very long white scarf with matching shirt and pants, light blue gloves and boots, and a necklace with a purple pendant. Her name comes from the name for the lowest possible winning hand in the game poker, and the fact that she holds the highest position of authority among the Loud siblings.

Beverly[]

Main article: The Loud Rabbits#Beverly
Brenda

In Lincoln's dream where he has twenty-five rabbit sisters, there is one named Beverly who seems to be slightly more based on Lori than Bridget and Betty.

Beverly wears a bright yellow top with frills at the bottom that is tied up with a similarly colored rope, and a short dark pink skirt. Like Lori and Betty, Beverly also seems to be a bit of a romantic, as she expresses great interest in her brother's love life. Just like Lori, Beverly is also protective, mature, responsible and she enjoys giving girl advice. Beverly's voice even sounds more identical to Lori than Betty's, despite all three of them being voiced by Catherine Taber.

Bridget[]

Main article: The Loud Rabbits#Bridget
Bridget

Bridget is a rabbit from Lincoln's dream he had while knocked out in "White Hare", who is one of the twenty-five sisters of Lincoln's rabbit alter-ego Warren.

Bridget seems to be even more attached to her cellphone than Lori, as she exclusively communicates via text messages. Like Lori, Bridget is very interested in her brother's love life.

Betty[]

Main article: The Loud Rabbits#Betty
Betty Rabbit

In Lincoln's dream where he has twenty-five rabbit sisters, there is one named Betty who seems to be even a bit more based on Lori than Bridget.

Betty wears a drill sergeant outfit, like the one Lori wears when she's trying to be intimidating. Like Lori, Betty also seems to be a bit of a romantic, as she expresses great interest in her brother's love life. Clyde's alter-ego, Danny, also has a crush on her that is similar to Clyde's former crush on Lori.

Mermaid[]

Lori Mermaid

An unnamed mermaid is Lori's alter-ego in the story the Loud children made up in "A Dark and Story Night". The mermaid resembles Lori, but with a ponytail, a blue crop top and a mint green tail.

In the story, the mermaid was using a shard of a crystal needed to bring electricity to a kingdom to charge her cellphone. When the story's protagonists asked the mermaid to give up the shard, she refused because she required her cellphone to keep in touch with her boyfriend, a bear. Lisa's robot alter-ego then built a waterwheel for the mermaid to use instead, so the mermaid, who was revealed to be a helpful sort, gave up the crystal shard.

Lori Beast Head[]

10HB The beast guarding the artifact

In 10 Headed Beast, she and the rest of the sisters are represented as a hydra.

Trivia[]

  • Her name is a variant of the Latin name "Laura," and is the abbreviation of "Lorraine".
    • Her name also means "The laurel tree or sweet bay tree."
  • She was named after one of Chris Savino's five sisters.
  • In stereotypical teenage talk, Lori almost always uses the word "literally" when describing something. She rarely uses it correctly, as it only works if she means what she's saying.
  • Occasionally, when Lori wants something, she claims she should get it because she's the oldest. This mainly happened in earlier seasons.
  • Lori has a fear of her family not needing her,[18] implying she has a savior complex.
  • Lori sometimes doesn't wear a real tank top, but the top of her mother's old girdle (to the disgust of her siblings).[34] However, Lori has several identical tank tops,[38] so likely only one of them is made from the girdle. Her shorts, however, are indeed always the same pair.[39]
  • Lori used to have braces.[37][15] She also wore glasses in the latter picture.
  • Luna ruined Lori's first Boyz Will Be Boyz concert, by accidentally making the power shut off.[40]
  • Lori's ideal superpower is telekinesis, so she can text Bobby with no hands.
  • Lori claims that she and her siblings (except for Luna) have no musical talent,[41] yet she can play the trumpet skillfully.[42]
  • She is one of two Loud sisters to wear eyeshadow (in Lori's case, blue). The other one is Luna (purple).
  • In "Making the Case", Lori is one of five sisters with no trophy in the case. The other four are Leni, Luan, Lucy and Lana.
  • Lori's pajamas are similar to what she wears in her prototype design.
  • Her roommate believes that her middle name is "Marie", perhaps due to their parents saying it when they're in trouble.[43] Her driver's license lists her name as "Lori L. Loud."[3]
  • According to Bobby, Lori is on the varsity golf team,[44] revealing that she's an excellent golfer. She also talks about attending a golf tournament in "No Such Luck."[45] In a flashback in "Change of Heart," she is seen returning from a golf tournament.[46]
    • Lori says that one of the reasons she likes golf is because of her dislike of running.[47]
  • Lori is the third most feminine Loud sister, after Leni and Lola. She usually wears shorts instead of a dress, but she loves fashion and other stereotypical teenage girl things.
  • From the picture of her feeding baby Lincoln ice cream in "The Whole Picture", it looks like she has worn similar clothes for most of her life. This photo also reveals that she had an extra pair of eyelashes when she was younger, and that she was the one who fed Lincoln his first ice cream.
  • She and Lincoln are the only characters to appear in every full-length episode.[note 1]
  • According to episode 20 of the Nick Animation podcast, Lori's favorite movie is Dirty Dancing.[48]
  • Lori says that her favorite food is sushi, although she has never tried it.[49]
  • Her dream job is to be the chief executive officer (CEO) or, at the very least, the co-CEO of a major corporation.[49]
  • Lori is known to have a flatulence problem but refuses to admit it.
    • Whenever she farts, she always tries to claim that it was her shoes, creaky floorboards, or seats that made the "farting" noise.
    • As of now, the times she farted were in "Making the Case", "Garage Banned", "Tripped!" and "Lola Loud".
    • This contrasts her roommate, who sometimes mistakes something for her own flatulence and will promptly apologize.
    • She started blaming her flatulence on others when she was one year old.[50]
  • If Lori eats anything unhealthy for dinner, she'll break out.[51]
  • Lincoln apparently thinks that Lori secretly fears that Bobby might end up leaving her for Leni.[52]
  • On Lori's baby photo, Lori was born with a pointed head, no hair, and webbed feet.
    • Another baby photo shows a similar appearance, except for a few strands of hair on her head.
    • The comic "It's Just a Phase" from Live Life Loud! shows that she outgrew these deformities by the age of one.
  • She refers to her pre-teen or tween years as her "awkward stage."[16]
  • Even though she's the oldest, she has no knowledge about black-and-white TVs, encyclopedias or polka.[53]
  • According to Carol, Lori made the Varsity Golf team in their freshman year of high school.[54]
  • Her social media username is literally_lori.
  • Outside of "Cursed!" and "A Very Casagrandes Christmas", she, along with her brother, her second-youngest sister and her mother are the only Louds to appear in The Casagrandes, with her appearances being in "Flee Market", "This Bird Has Flown", "An Udder Mess" (along with Lincoln) and "Movers and Fakers"; Lincoln's appearances being in "The Horror-Scope" (along with Rita), "An Udder Mess" (along with Lori herself), "Prankaversary", "Skatey Cat" and "Phantom Freakout"; Rita's appearance being in "The Horror-Scope" and Lisa's appearance being in "Kick Some Bot".
  • Lori bought her first car from Mr. Grouse.[55]
  • She used to have trouble learning her multiplication tables.[11]
  • She doesn't use a loofah.[56]
  • Texting in the car makes her throw up, but she does it anyway. As a result, Lincoln[57] and Luna[58] dislike sitting in front of her in Vanzilla because of it.
  • As a baby, she owned an animatronic fox toy named Fenton, which always cheered her up,[59] but which her parents hated and put in the attic when Lori was one.[60]
  • The first time she ever ate pizza with Bobby was on a date at Gus' Games and Grub, during which Bobby burned his tongue.[61]
  • Lori wishes to have eleven children of her own someday[62] and wants to name her first daughter "Lori Jr."[63]
  • Once, when Lori came to visit, Lily introduced herself, indicating that Lily no longer recognizes Lori.[64] However, Lily may have been joking.
  • Lori went as a princess for Halloween when she was in third grade.[65]
  • One time, Lynn told her that there was no more bread in the house, but when Lori found a loaf of bread, she used it to beat up her sister.[66]
  • She owned a flip phone when she was in middle school. When she first got it, she was distracted by it and bumped into another student in the lunch queue, causing the line to be knocked over and soup to be spilled on Chef Pat. Because of this, Lori became so embarrassed she never ate at the cafe again.[67]
  • Lori is sensitive to onion fumes[68], but not as sensitive as Bobby is.[69]
  • She and Leni used to be in bluebell scouts when they were younger.[9]
  • Her birthday is currently unknown, but an April 2022 ad implies that she and Lynn are Aries.[70]
  • Due to Lori being in college since the start of "Schooled!", she has had the fewest appearances in Season 6, appearing in only ten episodes and speaking in seven.
    • However, she has appeared more regularly in Season 7, appearing in the entire Road Trip arc.
    • She also is still depicted in the show's intro from then on, even when it is referenced in the short "Super Switcheroo-niverse".
  • She can apparently identify the smell of Cliff's and Lynn's farts.[71]
  • She was made the "Kangaroo Queen" during a middle school dance.[72]
  • Her favorite pizza is pepperoni.[73]
  • She uses mud to treat acne, poison ivy rashes and sunburns.[74]
  • She, Lola, Lana, Lisa, Luna, Chandler, Rita, Lynn Sr., Lucy, Lincoln, Myrtle, Mr. Bolhofner, Gayle, Par and Hector are so far the only characters to have a birthday celebrated in an episode.
  • Luna can recognize her by the sound of her squealing. She also initially didn't find any of Bobby's habits annoying until he started randomly singing, which she disliked. Bobby, on the other hand, finds her overuse of "literally" annoying.[75]
  • She, the rest of the Loud family, Charles, Geo, Todd, Flip, Rusty and Clyde are the only characters from The Loud House to appear in The Casagrandes.
  • When she was three years old, Rita started reading a book called The Other Side of the Mountain Top, which she would not finish for fifteen years.[76]
  • She, Lisa, Lincoln and Bobby are the only characters to appear in every season across all three shows.
  • She invented a dance called the "Poop Dance" to entertain Lily on the toilet.[77]
  • Lisa tutors her for pre-calculus.[78]
  • Lori, Clyde, Rita and Lynn are so far the only main characters to never sing a solo song.
